TweetPhoto social media integration

Ever heard of TweetPhoto? You may know TweetPic better because of its popularity, but TweetPhoto has also a lot of potential.

TweetPhoto has made some nice updates. When it first launched back in April 2009 it already had useful features, including Foursquare integration and a partnership with Kodak.
Well today TweetPhoto becomes a photo sharing service on its own, by getting more social features and a new iPhone app, ‘TweetPhoto Pro’.
You can now sign up though your Twitter, Facebook, MySpace accounts and Foursquare as well. The site will also be rolling out LinkedIn support in the next few weeks. Another good point is the fact that the service can also link your social networking accounts together. This will enable you to connect all your accounts together and your photos you will be uploading to TweetPhoto can be simultaneously broadcast to all of the networks. The startup has also submitted similar apps for Android and Blackberry platforms.

As they say, photo-sharing is now made simple!

Twitter upgrades its Geo-API

We all had the ‘more information’ questions pop out on our screen when connecting at first.
Twitter wanted us to be more precise by asking us if we wanted to create “geo-tweets,” or Tweets that are tagged with very specific GPS coordinates. The level of specificity unnerves some users who are against giving away such personal and actionable information.

That’s why Twitter decided to bring changes to its gelocation API. The upcoming changes include giving coordinates context, turning them into locations, so when people love a place and want to tweet about it, it will no longer be a latitude and longitude pair but a name. The changes will also give users a variety of privacy options, giving everyone a level that they are comfortable with.

Unfortunately these upgrades will only apply to the US first but it will expand soon. The new Twitter will please eveyone!

Toyota uses Twitter to get more sales

We all remember the fact that recently Toyota have had to recall in excess of 270,000 of their 2010 Prius hybrids due to a fault with the cars antilock braking system. After these issues Toyota has seen their reputation and their sales going down.

To make up for that and their image, they have decided to use Twitter to reach consumers in a more personal and direct way and make them change their opinions about things or at least try. The Japanese auto giant has launched a branded channel on TweetMeme, in partnership with Federated Media, which aggregates and organize Twitter conversations regarding Toyota. Called Toyota Conversations, the site brings together the top stories being Tweeted about Toyota, from news articles to press releases. The site also shows visitors the most popular videos and images being shared about Toyota on Twitter. It’s funny to see that it’s only positives tweets and good news about the car brand.

What’s amazing is that Twitter has become such a big thing in people’s life that now even brands uses Twitter to get even more awareness and acknowledge.

A real-time sharing tool

Want to share the latest cool thing you saw on the web with you friends much easier than having to copy/paste the link in a e-mail? A new sharing service named ‘ShareThis’ is becoming really popular. It enables you to find, share and discuss the best of the web.

The service just included ‘ShareThis Stream’ which adds an real-time feed with trending topics and a social element to what is being shared by your friends and other users using the service.

Why connect to different platforms to share and spread what’s popular with your friends, when you can just try this real-time multi-sharing tool?

A social networking TV reality show

After Pop Idol and So you Think you can dance, Simon Fuller is on for another TV reality show and quite an ambitious one. This time entertainment impresario Simon Fuller produced a social networking TV reality show.

At first it seems like an ordinary TV reality show, five random people aspiring to be stars will be tracked and filmed 24/7 in a Hollywood house. There will be weekly episodes shown on Hulu.com starting tomorrow.
The social network aspect comes into it’s own as it will be streamed live at ificandream.com giving followers the chance to win a place on the show via a public vote and an open worldwide audition.
The audition is not all part of the social networking strategy, the concept is meant to become a blogging mainstay, disseminated trough Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and uploaded on mobiles.
The show will attempt to be fully interactive by allowing participants to communicate and make decisions with the audience.

‘If I can dream’ is the first reality TV show to hit the social networking era.
By doing that, Simon’s goal is to show the truth to the public by pushing the boundaries of mainstream entertainment. But is it really possible to tell the truth from a TV reality show? Only time will tell us if Cowell’s vision was good!

Turn websites into music

Tired of always checking out the same old websites? Want a way to make it a bit more fun?
Well with Codeorgan, a new web application, you can have your favourite sites turned translated into music. Confused??? Well read on!

What it does is analyses the body content of any site and follows an algorithm to determine the key, synth style and drum pattern that fits the site’s page best. You can then play back what your web site would sound like as a piece of music via “Play this website” button.
If you enjoyed the result you can share it the composition on Facebook and Twitter and make your friends wonder what you’ve been up to.

We know this web app is not going to change your life, but it’s worth trying and is just a bit of fun. It will take your mind off things for at least a few minutes in a musical way!
Here is how our Chatterbox blog sounds like:

Your turn!

Twitter’s partnership with Yahoo

Facebook last year, now its Twitter’s turn to partner with Yahoo, the world’s third largest website and second largest search engine.

The integration is very clear. You will be able to access your Twitter feed through Yahoo’s homepage, Yahoo mail and Sport as well. You will also have the option to update tweets from Yahoo directly.
Yahoo, now having full access to Twitter data gives the search engine real-time updates, which will provide freshness and relevancy to the site. The real-time search integration will be available later on tonight or early tomorrow.

With this new partnership, Yahoo search puts itself in line with its competitors, Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. Yahoo is hoping that these moves to build a platform of social networks will make it easier for people to share information and images on Facebook and Twitter without leaving their Web site. And by giving people more reasons to stick around, Yahoo will have more chances to show the Internet ads that generate most of its revenue.

Twitter launching an advertising platform

Would you like to have the option of advertising for your company or your products on Twitter, like you can do on Facebook?

Well, in a month you will be able to increase awareness of your firm by reaching all the different communities on Twitter as well.
According to a panel discussion between Seth Goldstein, the chief executive officer and co-founder of socialmedia.com and Anamitra Banerji the head of product management and monetization at Twitter, Twitter’s ad platform launch is just a month or so away, it’s only a test phase though.
Twitter are aware of the fact they don’t have control on the way tweets are viewed and consumed, particularly those people advertising a product or brand. People are constantly “talking and engaging with brands, sharing their feedback,” so why brands wouldn’t start to participate as well?
Twitter added that they will make it “explicitly clear that a sponsor” paid for the ad, and make it “relevant and useful, so the user doesn’t think of it as an ad.”

Twitter definitely has to update us to make things more clear, but why not?
It will be a way for Twitter to earn additional money which could be used to improve Twitter’s infrastructure, increase reliability and reduce downtime.

Phishing attack on Twitter

Twitter has had it’s ups and downs since launch, but nothing much worse than shutting down for a short period of time. Now, Twitter is facing a barrage of spam attacks!

For those who use Twitter regularly, you may have noticed the odd strange message appearing in your account. These may be titled “lol, is this you”, “Lol. this is me??”, “lol , this is funny” etc. These are aimed at getting unsuspecting users to give there Twitter credentials away in return for seeing a funny picture. Known as ‘Phishing’, these users will then take your details and use your account to send spam. Bad times. Particularly as these are now advertising Viagra related messages!

IT security firm Sophos now has detailed info on the attacks and a video describing them, and how you can avoid becoming a victim. We’ve attached this below.

Hopefully Twitter can get this under control and keep us all safe from pesky phishers!
